BACKSTAGE between shows I wrote a lot of this book. I finished the rough draft in mid-December, 1971, but due to my schedule of performances I decided to put the book aside for a while to let it sit and gell.
Meanwhile, I read Ian Adair’s ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF DOVE MAGIC, VOLUME TWO, then later re-read my copy of Adair’s ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF DOVE MAGIC, VOLUME ONE, checking my ideas for duplication. Where anything came up similar,
I tried to note it along with the tricks in my book.
Mainly, though, I think you will find that the ideas, routines, and effects expressed in these pages are my own creations—! have purposely tried to shy away from using the ideas of others here. However, if by chance I happened to duplicate something from the 1903 SPHINX, may I be forgiven. I’ve been too busy performing magic to read every issue from that year.
Most of these effects and suggestions are simple ones , allowing you to apply yourself through showmanship to make each trick a visual success. So here you are—from me and m birds—NEW DOVE MAGIC.
