41. U. F. Grant, 1958: Spirit Cabinet

U. F. “Gen” GRANT was one of the great inventors of magic in the 1940s, 50s and 60s.   I don’t know the details, but I do know that Grant at one point worked for Abbotts Magic in Colon, Michigan.  Later he started his own company.   At Abbotts he created many tricks that they marketed, and later he marketed them with his own company. After his deal, his daughter MARY ANN changed the company to MAK (Mary Ann King, her married name, husband Jimmy King), thus MAK MAGIC of Columbus Ohio. Here is a catalog photo of Grant himself, followed on the next page (and several other Good Reads) with one of his earliest 1950s inventions. All these Grant items I bought as manuscripts for 50 cents to $1.00 each as a teen magician in 1958-60.  They were not copyrighted, but if they had been they would now be Public Domain.  (Copyright at the time lasted 52 years.). So in the spirit of sharing with other MAGICAL DREAMERS, I am reprinting these tricks now to help YOU think and dream. Good wishes! David Ginn
